This month's sermon series at
One Spirit UMC is all about some of the bible superheros of the old testament: Gideon, Samson, Ruth & Noah. Armed with scriptures to go with each of these heroes it was my task to pick the worship music for our praise band. I decided to look at more traditional hymns that had been recently recorded with contemporary arrangements as well as songs that seemed to speak to the themes of the old testament. The first song that came to mind was Michael Card's
"El Shaddai".
I found an arrangement that had been recorded by
Amy Grant
a few years ago in a
WOW Worship Songbook
so that was my starting point for putting together an arrangement for piano, bass guitar, electric guitar and vocals. I am looking forward to sharing it in worship in the next couple weeks.
